Next Step Acute Rehabilitation Center
After illness, injury or surgery, your physician may prescribe inpatient rehabilitation to complete your program of care. The Gnaden Huetten campus of the Blue Mountain Health System offers Next Step Acute Rehabilitation Center, where we provide individualized and flexible treatment programs designed for people disabled by injury or illness. Each person referred to the program is evaluated by our team and a rehabilitation plan is then developed to help the patient with the ‘next step’ in their rehabilitation process and developing the skills to live as independently and productively as possible
Who Can Benefit from Acute Rehabilitation?
Services are provided for patients with the following disabling illnesses or injuries:
- Stroke (CVA)
- Neuropathy and myopathy
- Multiple trauma
- Hip fractures
- Degenerative & progressive neurological disorders
- Deconditioning due to lengthy hospital stay
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Joint replacements
- Parkinson’s disease
- Spinal cord injury
- Peripheral nerve injury
- and many others
Next Step welcomes referrals from physicians, social workers, family members, insurance respresentatives, case managers, and patients themselves. Rehabilitation services are covered by most major insurance carriers including Medicare.
Prior to admission to the BMHS Acute Rehabilitation Unit, each patient is carefully assessed to determine whethere his or her specific condition would benefit from the comprehensive level of services provided. This assessment may be conducted at home or in the hospital by a BMHS Acute Rehabilitation team member.
