On the path to recovery
Heart health is at the fore of many people’s health concerns, especially after cardiac surgery, heart attack or other such episodes. That is precisely why the cardiac rehabilitation program of the hospitals of the Blue Mountain Health System concentrates on making patients stronger, both physically and mentally. Cardiac rehabilitation is, in fact, the process of assisting patients who are at the “crossroads” in their lives – patients who are at high risk for coronary disease, those who are recovering from bypass surgery or heart attack or those with angina, high cholesterol and/or hypertension. Patients who have had bypass surgery at other facilities may take advantage of the convenience of a top quality cardiac rehabilitation program in their own communities.
Offered at both hospital campuses, this unique program includes prescribed progressive conditioning exercises, nutritional counseling, stress management, smoking cessation and risk factor modification. We want our patients to realize their ultimate goals of gaining the knowledge and the confidence to lead active, healthy lifestyles while making some positive changes in regards to their cardiac involvement. When they do, we and they are successful.
