Senior Bullying–a Free Lunch & Learn Community Education Program Back To List

Blue Mountain Hospital & Arden Courts Memory Care Community will co-sponsor a Lunch & Learn Seminar on Senior Bullying on Wed., Aug. 23, 2017 from 12-2 p.m. at the Bowmanstown Medical Plaza at 512 Bank St. in Bowmanstown. The guest speaker will be Janene M. Holter, a Senior Supervisory Special Agent from the Bureau of Special Investigations at the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General.

Bullying is usually thought of as the territory of the young. As people age we expect them to become more mature and more skillful at handling interpersonal conflict. Most of us have heard of elder abuse and mistreatment by family members, but did you know that mistreatment of the elderly by their peers is becoming an increasing problem? It happens in senior centers, apartment buildings and other places where older adults socialize, and it can run the gamut from verbal intimidation to physical violence. Find out how to recognize it and how to handle it if you feel your elder is being bullied by someone.

Seating is limited; there is no charge for the program and lunch, but please call to register at 610-377-7070.
